Junior Summer School Staying in the Residence

Q. What happens when my child arrives in the UK?
A. There will be a representative of the STAR Exeter team waiting to meet them in the arrivals lounge of the airport. There will also be a taxi or bus waiting with a responsible adult to take your child to Exeter where they will be met by STAR Exeter activity leaders.

Q. Can you tell me about the residence?
A. The residence is on the University campus and is a short walk from the classrooms. STAR Exeter activity leaders will walk with the students to the classrooms. Within the residence there are units of up to 9 rooms. Each unit has an exterior door and all rooms have lockable doors. All rooms have a private bathroom.

Q. What meals will my child receive in the residence?
A. All meals will be served in the canteen on campus. There are 3 hot meals a day – Breakfast, lunch and dinner including a vegetarian option & salad bar.

Q. Who will look after my child in the residence?
A. STAR Exeter staff will be in the residence at all times including overnight.

Q. What happens after school?
A. Students will return to the residence after dinner on the campus. There will be evening activities supervised by STAR Exeter staff.

Q. What happens at the weekend?
A. There will be a full day excursion on Saturday. Sunday is a free day supervised by STAR Exeter staff.

Q. What happens if my child is ill?
A. All STAR Exeter Students who become ill can see a doctor.

Q. What happens if my child is homesick?
A. We will carefully monitor all children each day. If we think any child is becoming homesick that child will receive support from the STAR Exeter team.

Q. How can my child contact someone outside of school hours?
A. All children have to wear a wrist band at all times with the emergency telephone number which will be covered 24 hours a day x 7 days a week.

Q. What happens if my child misses the flight home?
A. A STAR Exeter member of staff will stay with any child who misses their flight until a new flight has been arranged.
