What is an International Foundation Programme?

The International Foundation Programme gives access to Year One of a UK university degree. The programme is taught and is assessed via examinations and coursework. As well as equipping you with the English skills and academic qualifications for studying in the UK, the IFP will also increase your cultural awareness.

 

Who can study on the International Foundation Programme?

The Intensive International Foundation Programme (IFP) has been specifically designed for international students who want to study for an undergraduate degree in the UK, but do not have British A-level qualifications (Year 13).

 

You will have completed your secondary school education in your own country and are looking for a programme that will provide you with the English language skills and knowledge to begin undergraduate study at a UK university. The programmes involves a significant amount of English language teaching.

 

What degree can I study after my International Foundation Year?

There are a range of degree courses you can progress to from the IFP in a wide range of subjects, such as Business, Accounting, Computing and Programming, Engineering

 

Which university can I go to?

Students on the Foundation programme are guaranteed a place at a UK University Partner upon successful completion of the course.

 

When you complete your IFP you can apply to a UK University Partner. Each university has their own entry criteria for each course and you will receive support throughout the application process.

IFP Course Summary

 

Course Length

 

  • Start September (Pre-Sessional Course + Foundation Programme): 9 months full time 25 hours per week
  • Start January ( Foundation Programme): 6 months full time 25 hours per week

 

Entry requirements:

 

Start September 2023 (Pre-Sessional Course)
  • A minimum overall grade of IELTS 4.5 or equivalent or take STAR's test.
  • PLUS evidence of a successfully completed secondary school education in an appropriate range of subjects.

Start January 2024 (Foundation Programme)

  • A minimum overall grade of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent or take STAR's test.
  • PLUS evidence of a successfully completed secondary school education in an appropriate range of subjects.

 

If you do not currently have IELTS 4.5 you can start an English language programme with STAR at any time, prior to commencing your IFP.
